Absolutely mortified

If ever there was a day when I questioned keeping a site today has been it as last night my site was hacked. As soon as I found out I immediately got in contact with my hosting service. Thankfully even though it was the middle of the night in the US they were in contact with me within half an hour having traced the problem. I then set about cleaning up the mess.

For those who have current security software it should have caught the file. If not of course do not click on any file that downloaded itself from this site as this will activate and install the Trogan.

I have spent most of the day sick to my stomach mainly because I know that although people are told constantly to keep their virus protection software up to date – they do not necessarily do it. So all I can say is that I am genuinely sorry. It should be OK now but I am going to do a little extra work behind the scenes for the next few days. So I won’t be blogging.

  1. Hi Sharon :o)
I got the trojan from you site – even with a paid virus protection upgraded the same day… All is good now, and I do not blame you, as I am sure nobody else do. Keep up the good work :o)

  2. I was one that got hit by your trojan but it didn’t turn me off to your wonderful site. I had all my viruse software updated and it caught it. I really don’t feel sorry for anyone who got caught without their software updated since you can set those to update daily. I love your site and love your blogs and will continue to come back everyday to visit.

  3. awful feeling isn’t it? our site was hacked within 48 hours of putting it up the first time. At least the Trogan didn’t destroy your site. Hang in there! Hope you know that you and your site are appreciated. If I remember, you get over 1000 hits a day of interested people. Thanks again for all your hard work on our behalf.

  4. These things happen however careful you are Sharon and I’m certain that not one of your thankful followers even thought of blaming you. I’m sorry you were hacked, it’s very upsetting.
I hope everything will be back to normal for you as soon as possible.

  5. SO sorry to hear about this Sharon! Just wanted to tell you again how much I enjoy your site, and I’m sending you positive thoughts. We’ll miss your posts, so please come back when it’s all over!

  6. entering your site yesterday I caught a couple of trojans. of course I knew it wasn’t your fault. my anti-virus and the free programme “a squared” helped me to get rid of them.

right now there are no problems anymore and I enjoy reading your blog.

  7. There is absolutely nothing to be sorry for Sharon. These things happen cause nasty little people don’t have a real life where they can do something usful with their time. Please don’t stress too much (I know that is probably hard at the moment) but it really isn’t your fault and no one is blaming you. Smile, it will all be over soon.

  8. Geez, Sharon, don’t beat yourself up! We are all so grateful for what you do, and these things happen.
It must feel very creepy to have been hacked, though, like your home got violated. I am so sorry you had to go through it.
We all love you, so don’t be worrying yourself. None of us would want that.

  9. sharon I’m so sorry you were hacked I love your site and read it daily please keep blogging I would truely miss your daily talks so sorry that this happened to you and has caused all this extra effort and stress sending you a virtual bear hug today
