Today I thought I would highlight a button cluster on one of my blocks. Buttons act to draw the eye to an area so when ever you want to add emphasis to a spot a button or two – or perhaps a whole cluster will do it.
This cluster has beads, sequins and a piece of broken jewellery in it. As you can see it runs over some old lace. It is actually hiding a spot where the lace was damaged. The edge of the lace has a small braid over it (the lace was tatty) and I have edged the braid with 3 detached chain stitches with a bead placed in the centre.
Day 17 and I am amazed at how many people are stitching along in one form or another. Susan of Plays with needles has returned from her vacation and has produced some beautiful seam embellishments. Renmedema is also stitching and experimenting with different fibers.
Charlene of When This You See, Remember Me is new to crazy quilting and has published her details and a small feather stitch sampler. It is very satisfying to me to report that Suze of Caricol Creations is also new to crazy quilting has finished a block.
Don’t miss Hideko Ishida’s delicate work as her interpretation of using buttons inspired by the detail on day 8 as it is lovely.
Annie Whitsed of Annies Crazy World has also been posting details of her crazy quilting projects has posted some more ideas of how to use buttons in crazy quilting
Pam Kellogg of Kitty & Me Designs has posted more charted designs suitable for crazy quilt seam embellishments.
For anyone just swinging by this series of posts are listed under 100 details for 100 days in this blog. Over on Flickr it is associated with the Crazyquilting Group and photos are tagged 100detailsin100days

How timely! I was just thinking one of my blocks needed a button cluster. I can see that you really go all out on yours with beads and baubles too! What fun! I’ll let you know when mine is done.
