100 details for 100 days Day 96

Day 96 in the crazy quilting 100 details in 100 daysThe seam treatment for day 96 started life as a piece hand dyed lace that was in the form of a row hearts. this lace is a modern rayon lace that I used Procion dyes to colour it.

As you can see in the photograph, the hearts are upside down and at their point I have worked three detached chain stitches in a hand dyed #8 cotton perle thread. A seed bead was then stitched in the middle of the chain stitches. This little motif is a very simple but effective little embroidered embellishment.

At the V of the heart is a row of larger black beads. In the the same hand dyed thread that I used to work the chain stitches I worked single fly stitches around each black bead. I then added a line of beads that look like 4 beads clustered together. The look a bit different which is why of course I chose them. Either side of these I used Long Tail stitch – it’s an interesting stitch and worked in cotton perle #5 thread it really filled the spaces!

If you are just swinging by, or a search engine has landed you here, this is day 96 in a series of articles that aim to give you embellishment ideas that you can use in your crazy quilting. If you want to print out this series 100 details for 100 days they are listed under that category.

  1. Hello Sharon –
I have enjoyed this series so much and I am looking forward to your new class to start in November.
I am wondering if you can tell me if there is a way I can print just each of the ‘Days’ I have started in the middle somewhere and I am trying to complete all ‘100’days but I spend a lot of time going back and forth trying to find where I have been. If I could print all the days I think it would be so much easier.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
    Maureen
