I had not heard of rice paddy art until I encountered this on Youtube. This is a time lapse video of rice farmers in Japan who create huge murals by planting fields of different coloured rice.
Since rice plants produce fiber as well as grain I have my fingers crossed that this video is still on topic! I am sure readers will find it fascinating.
How fascinating!! Monumental artworks are very labor intensive and require a supportive community. I went to wikipedia and read up on this project: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fl20070826x1.html. Yet another world spot to put on my life list. 🙂
