This decoration is found on block 53 of the I Dropped the Button Box Quilt. It is a vine of cast on stitch flowers worked in perle #8 which was hand dyed. Each has a French knot in the middle. The vine is stem stitch and leaves are detached chain. These are both worked in hand dyed rayon thread.

Free Crazy quilt block patterns
In the process of documenting the seam decorations on this quilt, as I get to each block I am diagramming it out for readers as a free crazy quilt pattern. Links to these free pattern pages are listed on the CQ details FAQ page.
I will have to try that cast on stitch! It looks lovely. I always thought this was some sort of buttonhole stitch when I would see it in your work. Very pretty.
The cast on flowers are amazing! Love the color scheme too! Looking forward to Studio Journal a Designers Workhorse class with you on Feb.9th @pintangle.com. Were you ears burning tonight? I had a discussion about you with a computer technician from Romania who was remotely accessing my computer to download new anti virus. He saw the pansy block I did a journalling piece on your class here in CT, USA last year as my wallpaper on desktop, and we were discussing all you do for stitching fingers, pin tangle and the online stitching community. Only good things of course>
