Work in Progress Wednesday Block 30 completed

crazy quilt block hand embroideryI have completed block 30 for my lace quilt. Click on the image and will take to you a larger version.

I started it last week so feel quite satisfied as to the pace these are moving at. The block is 7 inches square and I feel the colour scheme is a little different.

I was worried that it would be difficult as a result but it proved to be an interesting challenge without being a total pain if you know what I mean.

I have 4 blocks in this quilt that are similar to so I am taking it as a good omen.

In case your wondering about the frame I have the block on I am still using it and really like it. I wrote a review of the Grip-n-Stitch embroidery frame review here.

crazy quilt block hand embroidery detail I figured since it was a bit different in colour readers might like some details. The black beads decorating the cotton lace are jet. I have been saving them for a long time to use. I think I found the prefect place for them.

All the lace on it is vintage lace I was given “towards my next quilt” and I wrote about it here.

One of the embellishments I did on this block was to add bugle beads to black ric rac and then weave gimp thread under them. You can see it on the curved seam in the photo above.

You will find all the other blocks in the Lace Quilt category

  1. HI Marci its a type of triple feather which I was trying to work out if it was interesting enough to add to TAST – I think it is. It is in Edith Johns Creative Embroidery Stitches which is an old out of print book and one of those obscure stitches I always wanted to get around to trying.
