Hand dyed #5 perle cotton, Caron watercolours  1 strand of #5 perle cotton, hand dyed silk, stranded cotton floss, hand dyed wool, chenille, knitting yarn

Fabric:

linen 26 count

This section of the sampler was worked second half of 2009.

Size:

The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and consists of different strips of fabric which are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 96 feet 5 inches (2,938.78 centimetres), or  32.138 yards which is 29.3878 meters. It is still growing…

  1. Queenie I just stitched the stitches on top of each other – just kept piling them on. They all went through the fabric – the top yellow ones are single stitches or perhaps I should say units of stitches. The fabric is linen so it allowed for lots of stitching.

  2. How did you spread the stitches over the surface? Did you stitch a row and then a row in another thread, weaving under and over the first row, then a third in the same way? Or are they all more or less detached Knotted Buttonhole stitches?
    E.g. light blue row in the middle, is it one continues line? Are the yellow stitches, detached?
