Buttonhole wheel stitch sample 4Buttonhole Wheel is a fun and easy to work and needless to say it the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge stitch for the week. They are often used to form small floral sprays making it a useful stitch for contemporary crazy quilting and surface embroidery, but you can also use them in a contemporary manner too. You will find a full tutorial on the Buttonhole wheel page alongside  ideas on how to use it in your stitching projects. The same page has a tip on controlling them if the edges flicks up, and information on half and quarter buttonhole wheels. Also I have discussed as well as using button wheels in pulled and drawn embroidery techniques.

How to join in on the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge

If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitches. If you are an experienced embroiderer push these stitches in creative manner and share with beginners what can be done with a little imagination.

Where to share

Stitch a sample, photograph it, put in online on your blog, flickr site, share it on facebook or where ever you hang out online, and leave a comment on the Buttonhole wheel page with your full web address.

Feel free to join the  TAST facebook group or on the TAST Flickr group.  If you are a hashtag type person use the hashtag #TASTembroidery and #PintangleTAST on places like Instagram etc. The challenge guidelines are on the TAST FAQ page.
