I have a hand embroidery pattern of abstract seed pods to share with you today. Click on the image to see a larger version which you can save to your desktop for use. Scale the pattern in graphic program to fit the project you choose. It would work well on an item like a bag or small cushion. If you wanted to scale it smaller you could use it in crazy quilting, a book cover, sewing caddy or anything really!
To work this design I would choose a thread with a firm twist such as cotton perle #8 or #5. This design could be worked using surface embroidery stitches using back stitch, chain stitch, whipped chain stitch,or stem stitch. The leaves could be filled with a stitch such as Cretan Stitch. Follow the links to tutorials.
The round black dots are the abstract seed pods. These could be beads, sequins, or created using oyster stitch, or satin stitch, buttonhole wheels or if you are little more experienced with a needle and thread buttonhole wheel cups, or Cast on stitches.
How ever you adapt the pattern I hope you enjoy stitching it.
If you need to know how I would transfer this pattern to fabric, I have a tutorial on how to transfer embroidery designs to fabric.
This pattern is for non commercial use and I ask please if you share link back to Pintangle.
