For Take a Stitch Tuesday Week 32, I would like to introduce you to Raised Herringbone Band. This is an interesting stitch, but for some reason, I find I forget to use it! But this stitch is really remarkably handy once you learn it.
This stitch makes a great decorative filler if you work it in a block, row upon row. Or if you work just one line of it, you can create a solid border. This is ideal to frame a motif or to use along the edge of something. You will find a tutorial for Raised Herringbone band in my stitch dictionary. If you need a refresher on how to work Herringbone stitch there is a link in the tutorial.
Take a Stitch Tuesday Week 32 Beyond TAST
For Beyond TAST I have another herringbone variety called Buttonholed Herringbone. I have decided that it is time for some fun. And this stitch is certainly that, as well as being surprisingly useful. This stitch makes a border that is highly textured — like a braid. It is literally a herringbone stitch that has been buttonholed, so check out the tutorial for Buttonholed Herringbone and have some fun with it.
When you work two rows facing each other, you create a line of circles and if you work two rows back to back they become diamonds.
If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitch and share what you have learned. If you are an experienced embroiderer, enjoy Beyond TAST and give your work a modern twist. And of course, share it online so beginners can see what can be done with a little imagination.

Where to Share
If you are doing the design challenge you have a month to work on your design and stitch it up.
So the idea is to stitch a sample, photograph it, share it in the Take a Stitch Tuesday facebook group, or use the hashtags #TASTembroidery and #PintangleTAST on Instagram.
If you need more information the challenge guidelines are on the TAST FAQ page.
