Work in Progress Wednesday Block 42 done!

Block 42 doneYay doing a happy dance as holding off on working the hussif means I  have completed block 42 and with that folks … drum roll …. I have all the blocks I need for a quilt!

Oh those words looks so insignificant on the screen but they mean a lot and I am doing more than a simple happy dance. I have to assemble the quilt which I will do but not until life settles a bit (mainly because I take over the dining room to do it)  but the blocks are all made now.

If you click on the photo you will be take to a page that displays a larger photo.

It is in strong colours and similar to block 41. After doing so many blocks in muted colours I enjoyed working these last two blocks.

Once again I used up and down buttonhole feather stitch and added detached chain stitches, and cast on stitch flowers.

I also got a heck of a kick making these button tassels. I worked a zig zag line of chain stitch (marked out using my stencils) then added detached chain stitches and straight stitches on all the peaks and valleys. I next added blue buttons in the spaces between the peaks and valleys and  then went to town with the beads. it was fun!

Sumptuous Surfaces class is sold out. If you are enrolled I will start sending out class invitations in the next day or so

Work in Progress Wednesday Block 42 started

Block 42 startedThis is the last block in this quilt. I am so looking forward to doing something else once these blocks are done! I am sure everyone feels like this at the end of a large project such as quilt. Anyway here it the block and hopefully next week I will be able share what I have stitched on it.  It is the same colour scheme as my last block so should be fun to work.

Work in Progress Wednesday Block 41 done

Block 41 doneOnce again I am exited to report that I have done block 41 in my Lace quilt and I would like to share it with my readers. If you click on the thumbnail you will be taken to larger view of the block.

I found working gin the stronger colours a lot more fun and enjoyed stitching the large floral spray that creeps up the block spilling over the seams and into a number of the patches. I used Up and down feathered buttonhole again. It is TAST stitch 61 and is proving to be a wonderfully versatile stitch.

The middle of each flower I attached a domed sequin. Some people think sequins are tacky but I like thee at they are a bronze and being in a dome shape look very different to normal sequins. The lace flowers are hand dyed. I dipped them in at the same time as I dyed the peril #5 thread I used on the block.

You will find all the other blocks in the Lace Quilt category

Work in Progress Wednesdays (WIP Wednesdays)  is not exactly a challenge as it is more like a support group! The aim is to encourage people to complete  languishing projects or WISPs (Works in Slow Progress) or completing UFOs (unfinished objects) or those in the process of de-stashing.

The idea is, that if you regularly report publicly on a project you are more likely to pick it up and work it a little. Even if it means the project is out and ‘looking at you’ for most stitchers it means they will work it a little. So if you have something you want to share please do!
