I recently had a wonderful two month trip which allowed me to assess how I was spending my time. I love teaching online and the classes are constantly fully booked. It is wonderful to be successful. Internet success has really added much to my life but on the other hand it often prevents me from doing other things.
I plan to write a book on Crazy quilting. This is something I have wanted to do for years but teaching has kept me from achieving it. So each class will run once in 2014 and it is the last time I plan to run them.
All are available to purchase now. Each class runs for 6 weeks and is priced at $60. This is the last time these classes will run. As usual I will close them off when they are full. Follow the links for details about each class.
- Artists Studio Journal: A Designers workhorse (no longer available)
- Encrusted Crazy Quilting (no longer available but look out for my book ! )
- Sumptuous Surface Embroidery (no longer available)
I limit the number of students in my classes.
How do online classes work?
There are two components, the lessons, and the class group. If you have purchased the class a week before it starts class you will be invited to join the class group.
The first lesson will be released on the start date of the class and a lesson per week is released after that. The lessons are a PDF document which are held in the files area of the group. Students download the file, print it out and work through the lesson and use the discussion group to ask questions. You will need the PDF Acrobat reader which is is provided free by Adobe from the Acrobat reader site
I have designed all my lessons so that people can work at them as much or as little as they choose. Some people have more time to put into them others do not. I understand this, for this reason they are self paced.
The class group is where all class communication takes place. Since students are from all around the globe time zones do not allow real time chat but you can post messages which will be delivered as email to all class members.
Students can upload images of their work online in the photo area, so I can give them feedback. Participation in the discussion is totally voluntary but I think this is the fun part of the process as it is where students get feed back from me, bounce ideas off each other and share the pleasure in learning a new skill.
Classes are paid for by Paypal and are priced in US dollars.
