In this seam embellishment I  first covered the seam with hand dyed lace. I then worked a line of straight stitches in perle #8 and then I added the orange seed beads. Next I added beads to the lace then finally the vintage button

Introducing Block 74 on the I Dropped the Button Box Quilt

Y2K Crazy quilt Block 74Today I would like to share with readers a pattern for Block 74 which has a really bright colour scheme. On its own it looks a bit gah! But it sits ok in the quilt itself.

Click on the block to see a larger view

In the top left corner is a piece of stretch lace which was a bit of challenge but I was going through a stage of convincing myself and others that you can use just about any fabric in crazy quilting. There is a few block on this quilt where because I wanted every piece of fabric to be different I really had to test this. I use a piece of cotton under the stretch lace to stabilise it.

Over the next few weeks I will share articles about the embroidery and embellishments in closer detail but for today I will focus just on the block.
