Can-bra images from the First National Crazy Quilt Retreat are now online

Literally minutes ago I loaded the Can – Bra photographs taken by Melody Lord at the retreat for all to see. Attendees at the First National Crazy Quilt Retreat in October 2004 were invited to decorate a bra in order to raise funds for Breast cancer research.

A bra parade compared by Dell Armistead made it a hilarious evening for all participants. I laughed so much at the antics of the women who paraded their creations and the bras that I literally had aching sides the following day. Some were bras were made for fun while others made statements. All celebrated health and life. Voting was by coin donation and the winner was Catherine Byatt’s “The Mermaid” a photograph of which is at the top of this post.

The retreat was organized by the Canberra Crazy Quilters group and members of the southerncrosscrazies online discussion group and we plan on having another National in 2006 but it will be hard to top the fun we had on that night.
