There are plenty of colour palette and colour schemers online that assist in working out colour schemes. They are often designed as a resource for website designers but textile practitioners could easily use them for working out colour schemes on various projects. Colour Palette Generator generates a colour palette based on an image. You up load an image that is gif, png, or jpeg format, select a grid size and the program generates a palette.
Here are three screenshots of palettes I have generated. The first was generated from an image of one of the 8 inch blocks of the crazy quilt I am currently working on.
The second was generated from one of the images of a block in the I dropped the button box crazy quilt
The third palette was generated from a photograph I took while in China last year.
Certainly loads of fun for a Sunday morning!
Thanks so much!! Looks like I’ll be playing today.
Too much fun! I can think of all sorts of things I can use this for. Thanks for all the interesting things you post.
That man who deconstructs other people’s samplers should do this instead!
This is a great site! I could play here for hours and if I were designing anything it would be very useful as I have no idea when it comes to colour!
