100 details for 100 days Day 72

Day 72
The detail featured today is actually two. The first is the texture behind the buttons and the second is the button cluster itself which has a bead tassel. This is the 6 inch crazy quilt block it came from. Many people simply stitch on a few buttons I like to embellish them a little too!

The seam was first embellished with a thick textured fibre that was couched on in a free form wavy line.

Then I set up another free form line of French knots and yet another of white seed beads. These beads were again used in the button clusters so it ties the block together and the buttons don’t look out of place.

This morning on my usual round up I discovered to my delight that Marty of Textiles in Time is over her surgery and is back stitching. Marty has worked a really lovely seam treatment using rick rack.

Allison Aller has tailored her seam embellishment to suit the block she is working on. I hope people are checking out what she is doing because the reinterpretation of something like a line of embroidery to suit the block you are working on is one of those skills that crazy quilters have to develop in order to pull the whole thing together.

Lin of Purple Fan has combined the details from day 64 and 33 adapting them to her needs too

Julia (aka Ribbonwiz) Camille’s Place has used embroidery to attach some lace daisies further embellishing an element on one of her hearts.

Pam Kellogg of Kitty & Me Designs has generously published a free charted Blackwork Reindeer design ideal for using on Christmas projects.

Rissa is sharing her tips on using cold water fibre reactive dyes on lace.

Annie Whitsed of Annies Crazy World has some more details from her red dress.

For anyone who has been following this series you may be interested in the online classes I announced last week.
