I have been playing with this Color Scheme Tool . This is a free online tool that allows you to create colour palettes which start from a hex colour value that you enter. If you don’t have a graphics program that gives you hex colour values play with the slider on the rainbow. You can select schemes that are monochromatic, analogic, complimentary, split complimentary, triadic and double contrast. Permission is also granted by the creator for you to use the colour schemes in your art projects.

Great tool, thanks!
Debra most of these colour schemers are designed to be used for just that but they can also be used by needleworkers. They are great to jolt you out of habitual colour schemes.
Ok, why was my first thought that this would be a great way to design a website or blog template??
Jenne thanks for the link – its looks to be a good one. There is also this one that works along the same lines –
I blogged about using it here

Pretty cool little thing, just submit a picture with colors you like, and it spits the palette out.
