Work in Progress

It’s that time of week where I look back and ask myself what I have been stitching lately. So this is another work in progress report. (I know I am late posting this but for some reason my ISP is misbehaving today So I will be brief)

First, as you can see I have another block stitched for my Diamond block crazy quilt to show you.

The first detail is of bullion stitches which have been wrapped with a chain stitch

This detail is a variety of wheatear stitch. Instead of chain stitch  I have used oyster stitch and added extra spikes.

I wanted to create a spray that was a bit differnet so I used twisted chain stitch to create the linear stem like elements of this floral spray. I used a cotton thread with a gold thread twisted through it. It is not sold as a hand embroidery thread but as a hand knitting cotton. The flowers are either silk ribbon roses or beads. The other foliage like spray is worked in Feather stitch

As usual if you click on the images you can go to a larger version and when on that page click on the magnify glass icon in the top right to see things even larger.

  1. This has given me some very good ideas for a duvet cover that I wanted to make for my husband, he only likes deep rich blues – but good deep blue fabric is difficult to come by in large sizes. I really like it paired with the gold and embroidery…I am already thinking of what I might do. Thanks for the lovely blog!
