Vintage embroidery stitch notes from Coats

Coats have published one of their vintage set of notes on basic embroidery stitches. It is available from the Coats site as a PDF file. It is interesting to see what was considered a ‘basic’ stitch in the 1940’s. For instance both bullion stitch and french knots are included. Found with thanks via Karen South’s Crazy quilting World
There is also information on Swedish Weaving which is also called “Huck Embroidery“. It’s an adaption of running stitch so for anyone looking for inspiration for the stitch along this pdf file might be an interesting back ground read.

  2. Sharon, this was an excellent link. Not only is the PDF file worthwhile, but also C&C has a nice collection of free patterns that I thoroughly enjoyed visiting. Thank you!
