For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 17

As I mentioned yesterday this next section is dated 1996 – Jan 1998

Stitches:

The first band is raised chain stitch. Being the first band, raised and on the edge of the sampler it is a bit worse for wear.  As I explained yesterday this sampler was used to demonstrate stitches for The Young Stitchers group at the local branch of the Embroiderers Guild which I co-ordinated at the time. It got a lot of handling by small but enthusiastic hands.

Thread:

DMC perle thread 3, 5 and a hand dyed cotton, which is the same weight and thickness as DMC perle 5. The foundation thread was worked in DMC perle thread 3 and the bars and the chain stitch was worked in the finer thread.

Fabric:

This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the cotton thread

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

  1. Wow, you have gone through a lot of stitches in the week I have been on holiday, without internet access! Very inspiring. Actually a lot of the stitches coming up look like ones we looked at in PLOS, which by the way was also very inspiring and also instructive.
I managed a little stitching while away, I will try to post on my blog tomorrow.
