Yarn Bombing as Street Art

Yarn Bombing as Street Art

I just had t share this knitted bus! Magda Sayeg and a group of guerilla knitters are responsible and it was featured in Telegraph(UK) newspaper

Guerilla knitters around the world are taking knitting out of the domestic sphere and into public places as they have started to decorate trees, street signs and lampposts etc with giant knitted items. Check it out not only is it fun but it is also interesting as it makes you think about how we perceive knitting/textiles.

Thanks to Glass os Fashion for the link

  1. There is no evidence to date to support the contention that yarnbombing hurts trees,I haven't seen any trees in our town suffer as a result. In fact the trees in our village suffer more from trucks hitting them, and there other issues to be concerned about like pollutants, people climbing them.
Add to that I rarely see birds suffering from lack of bugs, they are well fed critters around here.

  2. Yarn wrap NON LIVING THINGS ONLY!

Yarn Bombing is UNHEALTHY for trees!!

Most yarn being used is ACRYLIC, which is PLASTIC, is NOT biodegradable & gives pests a safe cover from birds looking for food a place to hide while they bore into the tree, weakening it.

PLEASE, Yarn wrap NON LIVING THINGS ONLY!
