For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 68

Once again this little line is made up three stitches. The top row  is a fine line of Portuguese knotted stem stitch.

The middle row of stitching is Pagoda chevron stitch which as you can see is a variety of chevron stitch but instead of bringing your needle out under the bar you bring it out so that the diagonal stitch is worked over the bar. You can find  on page 19 of  The Complete Stitch Encyclopedia by Jan Eaton or on page 66 of Mary Web’s Embroidery Stitches.

The last line is of stem stitch

A hand dyed cotton (crochet thread)

Fabric:

This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave..

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for thread

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

This section of the sampler is dated 1996 – Jan 1998
