For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 101

This row of stitching sits below the large crab motif (and actually needs to be pressed straight!) but you can still see what is happening. The band of stitching is a line of half Algerian Eye stitches that are offset as they are worked. The middle row is line of Four sided stitch.

  1. Aida these stitches are really best on fabric that is an even weave the pulled stitches need a linen as the weave is loose enough to shift and ‘pull’ this creates holes and an alternative pattern to the thread. I see it as two patterns for the work of one! I have never had success on fabric like quilting cotton as the fabric is too tight a weave.

  2. This is incredibly beautiful- again, as with so many of your things, I have to try it on needlepoint canvas. I think it would be very effective!! I’m glad to see you back in "high gear" again with work and the blog posts, etc.
