For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 140

This band is a little unexpected so I have diagrammed it.   It is made up of a part of herringbone stitch which I have repeated along a line. The sections were worked close together. When worked like this they produce a wide interesting band.

I have not seen this variety documented but I am sure other stitchers have thought to do the same or a similar thing. I just call it a variety of herringbone. It is very simple but very effective as a border on things. I have used it often and it is quick to work particularly if you use a perle thread instead of wool.

How this stitch was worked.

Thread:

A hand dyed wool

This section of my sampler is worked on cream  dress linen

I started this section of the sampler in 2004 and completed it early  2005.
