  1. Colleen I do design my quilts before I piece them. I dont want to sound mean but I do not be discuss or cover aspects of design on this blog as often these are what I teach in my classes. It is not fair to people who buy my classes.

  2. I just LOVE the delicate blocks so much! And the lace blocks certainly fit that bill beautifully! I cannot wait to see the finished quilt!!! We’re always rushing you, aren’t we? lol

I am wondering, and perhaps you’ve discussed this previously??? … HOW do u decide how to join the blocks? [sashing, no sashing, etc] Your Y2k seemed to be in color ribbons on the diagonal and the diamond block quilt was lite/dark to form cubes …. but what is the thought process behind connecting blocks to their advantage? Is that something u could discuss at some point? Or could you direct me to something written?

Mind you I haven’t finished anything YET. But I am working on a collection of blocks [to be a wallhanging] inspired by and featuring a lovely warm pastel paisley print on white [very delicate and feminine] which I INTEND to join without sashing … but what if I later decide the blocks don’t coexist properly? And because my color palette is all over the place [I love and use all colors] … what about all those oddball practice blocks? For those, I am stumped. I can’t see any rhyme nor reason for joining without sashing, but it seems there must be other options??? As you can probably tell, I’m not terribly fond of sashing. Tho I have seen a rare few that I admired.

I know you’re terribly busy, but if someday u could include a couple lines in a post … it wouuld be very much appreciated.

[Please do not post my email online .. thanks]

    Thanks for all you do!

  3. Thanks Barbara. I used to worry about the fact that I had so much tacky stuff (from costume making) but now I don’t. In a way it has made me learn to handle the block design – other wise it would be a bit overpowering. So I guess it has been good in the long run!

  4. I love looking at your site each day especially since you’re in tomorrow and I’m in yesterday. I use to be a "Lace Snob" and wouldn’t use anything but the finest French cotton laces or antique lace. You’ve opened my mind to using nylon lingerie laces all of which are beautifully colored and much more. Thank you for pin tangle. Barb
