Fragile textiles are seen under a different light

Since textiles are so fragile very few survive over time which means researchers have to be extremely careful about what tests ancient fabrics undergo.

Researchers are now using forensic photography to glean information from artefacts found in  from burial mounds built 1600 years ago. Pieces of fabric recovered from Ohio ‘s Seip burial mounds show gradations of color under different light sources and this safer research technique is being applied more widely to fragile fibers.
