Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hi all! Imagine me as here I sit on my whirly chair waving in all directions sending my best wishes to everyone, no matter what faith or religion you follow. In January, I will have written this blog for 18 years and I have had a website of some sort online since 1996. So that makes it 26 years. Eeks! should I admit to that?  In internet time, that is an absolute age!  I still get a childish delight in contacting people from around the globe, from all walks of life. So… here I am enthusiastically waving with a big silly grin on my face. Lets hope the coming year is better than the previous two! In the meantime I have come up with some free Christmas designs for you

Before I move on to some gifties of free Christmas designs and what is planned next year I want to thank you, my readers.  I really appreciate you swinging by each week month or day reading what I ramble on about and responding! A huge thank you!

Apart from sharing a new design this year I have also rounded up previous gifts and free patterns as I am sure people will not find them in the archives

Free Christmas designs!

Free Christmas tree pattern colouredFirst up here are some free hand embroidery patterns of Christmas trees!

Free Christmas tree patternYou can outline the trees in Stem stitch or Chain stitch and there are loads of spaces for beads and sequins if you want to add them. I have also made it available in PDF file format so you can print it out easily. Download the PDF file here

Also, I hope you like these tree decorations which you can also outline in Stem stitch or Chain stitch and I have left plenty of spaces for beads and sequins if you want to add them. I came up with idea as I was looking for something simple and quick to put on a small gift bag but you could use it on a card too. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. The next 3 designs I think I gave away in the newsletter I used to run. I don’t write it anymore as I found it was the thing that made me hit overload and I ended up not writing it. But instead of having these languish on my hard drive, I decided to share them again with you.

Other free resources on Pintangle

There are many other free resources on this site. Apart from the Stitch dictionary which I add to frequently, check out the list of tutorials that you can find on the site.

Probably one of the most useful resources for crazy quilters is a tutorial on how to work decorative crazy quilt seams. I have a screenshot below displaying one of the pages from the mini ebook. At 19 pages of information it is a resource worth investigating! In case you missed it, here is the download and keep it as an ebook on a tablet, or print it out easily.

There are also free modules in my stitchers worksheets which cover the basic stitches. Yes, they are completely free, and none of my stuff asks you to subscribe to anything or join this or that — they are a simple give-away.

This last year

In this last year, of course, a lot of stitching went on — which I shared on Pintangle. Alongside loads of thread twisties, I released the third set of my stitchers templates which you can find in the shop. This set of templates is designed with floral designs in mind. You can create hundreds of designs using the petal, leaf, and stem shapes.

Next year

The big news is that Take a stitch Tuesday will continue. I will recommence posting a new TAST stitch on January 4th. If you want to know more about the challenge you can see the guidelines on the TAST FAQ page.

I will of course be writing about other things too. My creative sparks are taking on a bit more of a designing emphasis. At the moment that is where the energy is. I have been playing both with Illustrator, designing on my ipad and in my studio journal. Next year I hope to get more of those ideas out into the big wide world and I’ll probably write about the process. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of self-indulgent stitching using heaps of sequins. And looking at what I have been buying online lately, I think my exploration of bling will continue. Also somehow … shuffles a bit nervously … I am not sure how it happened … but…  I have a number of current projects that have become WIPs (Works In Progress) and WISPS (Works In Slow Progress). And I even have the odd UFOs (Un-Finished Objects). So I plan to work on them too.

Over the next couple of weeks, I am going to take a break as the family are all on annual leave. It is summer here in Australia and the Christmas season and our summer holiday season combine. Anyway from wherever in world you are, my home to yours, my best wishes and stay safe this holiday season. I hope all your needles are easily threaded, no one steals your scissors for cutting paper, and your thread is knot and tangle free.

Happy Holidays and see you next year! Oh that whirly chair makes me dizzy!

  1. Santa brought me Creative Stitches for Christmas! What a beautiful and useful book it is. So with that inspiration, I’m rootling through my stash to find a piece of evenweave band which I’ll use to start an annual sampler — homage, you might say, to your fabulous big band sampler. I hope you had a lovely Christmas, and that the New Year, when it comes, is a good one for you.

  2. Hi Sharon, WOW! that is a very long time to have been sharing your knowledge and expertise with your many fans. You have taught us so much over the years, and you never cease to amaze and inspire me. Next year I am going to start a sampler using all of the stitches you have shared. Hopefully eventually I will learn how to move photos from my phone to the computer so I can share my work as so many others do. I hope you have a happy and peaceful Christmas spent with the people you love most, and 2022 brings you good health, happiness and continuing success.

      1. Oh Sharon; I hope you didn’t think I was being snide and sarcastic in my initial comment. I was simply exposing my own inability to properly plan my time and have gifts ready before Xmas Eve each year. I am a First Class, A-1 procrastinator and admitting that fault to the world doesn’t embarrass me enough to make me change.
