Work in progress Wednesday

I feel bad about this but I don’t have any stitching news as this class has kept me very busy! I have 170 people in the class and made a mistake of proposing a challenge just before it began but hey the colours were pretty and I got carried away. I hope that next week more news on the hussif as I am itching to get to it.

In the meanwhile I  am opening up this post for those who use the weekly progress challenge to push them towards completing something.

So if you have something you want to share please do! Leave a comment below with  link so we can visit and see what you have done. Remember to include the http bit of your web address  as then it will become a link that folks can click on to visit your place online.

  1. Having been one of your students, Sharon, I know you give them each wonderful attention and I was glad of it.

I have posted pictures of my nearly complete hussif.

I have some cleanup to do – removing basting lines (invisible until photographed) but it’s ready to use. Talented ladies in a CQ RR embellished the outside cover, including a secret tree inside the pocket on the back. The little bird from there flew inside.
I’m pretty tough on my sewing things – expecting them to hold together in spite of being tossed into other bags or the back seat of the car, hence the zipper closing all round. The back has a pocket large enough to hold a half sheet of paper.
    Inside front:
Scissors on a tether, a stacked pocket for a metal needle threader, pin cushion, slots for a glue stick (yes, I cheat in various ways on turned edge applique), a sewline needle threader, a squared pocket for Thread heaven, and place for a thimble. Behind all these a large zippered pocket, nearly the full size of the cover.
The light grey page is velcro’d in so it could be removed. One side has two zippered pockets with clear vinyl on front so you can see what’s in there. The black strip is ultra suede and when putting spools of thread in the pocket, I thread the end through the suede so I can pull and cut the length I need without opening the zipper.
The flip side of the removeable page has slots for long slim tools such as marking pens and ruler or ripper. I meant to put some floss rings at the top but took soooooo long to complete the hussif that they are hibernating somewhere in the depts of my sewing room.
The inside of the back cover has a flap pocket with velcro closure, a slim pocket for toothpicks (for needle turn) and a needle book with wool pages.

Now, on to a pretty wearable one for times when the only horizontal surface available is my lap.

    1. WOW you are the first and it looks great!
I took a look at the prototype for the chatelain – I have one of those and I have deep pocket and it is really good – I once has one with smaller pockets and too many things fell out!
