This hand embroidered seam detail on block 80 of my I dropped the button Box Crazy Quilt.
As you can see there is a big red London bus on it …well it is not actually a London bus it is a charm of a London bus. I purchased it as a souvenir when I visited London. It was on one of those hideous tourist key rings. I always look at what is on key rings and often all you need is pair of pliers and bingo you have an interesting charm with a story. The block was very red and I felt once set in the quilt, it was going to stand out like a double decker bus! It does not but at the time I felt it might. I added the other palace guard charm later.
The next detail I would like share today is a braid that covers a small seam. I stitched it to the block and then added red beads. It was a very simple seam treatment for any block.

Behind in reading posts, I love this block and the back story behind it. Thanks for all you share!
Thanks Marianne for your constant support
Come on, those key rings can’t be that hideous if you always look at them and then buy some!
Thanks for making all these seams available…what a fine resource for us all.
Thanks Allie!
That’s a really nifty idea with the keyring/charm. I must bear that in mind. Maybr one day, when I get to taking up CQ, I’ll do a block for each place of significance I’ve visited. An interesting idea for the future, no? In the meantime, here I sit working on improving my cast on stitches.
