I want wish all my readers a safe and happy holiday season and wish all the best for the coming year. I really do appreciate my readers. I have a little gift of a free hand embroidery pattern which I hope readers enjoy.
A free hand embroidery Pattern of a Christmas trees!
You can outline the trees in stem stitch or chain stitch and there is plenty of spaces for beads and sequins if you want to add them. I have also made it available in PDF file format so you can print it out easily. Download the PDF file here
Other free resources
There are many other free resources on this site.
Probably one of the most useful resources for crazy quilters is a tutorial on how to work decorative crazy quilt seams. I have a screenshot below of one of the 17 page mini ebook. In case you missed it, here is the download and keep it as an ebook on a tablet, or print it out easily.
If you need to know how to work hand embroidery stitches, I have provided free, 12 Surface Stitches for Beginners. Follow the link for a direct PDF download.
There are also free modules in my stitchers worksheets which cover the basic stitches. They are free and none of my stuff asks you to subscribe to anything or join this or that, they are a simple give away.
In this past I regularly give away free crazy quilt block patterns from my I Dropped the Button Box Quilt follow the links to each block that is listed on CQ Details FAQ page
This last year
In this last year I have been working on my book. In August I announced that I had signed with C&T Publishers. I was thinking of self publishing but I decided the traditional route as I think I will write a better book if I work with a good publisher. I did have to do some re-thinking but it is still on track.
The other thing I have been working on is my second set of stitchers templates. I now have two sets of templates available and both have a ebook of patterns that go with them.
Crazy Quilt Templates set 1 you will find here
Crazy Quilt Templates set 2 you will find here
In July the hand embroidery Take a Stitch Tuesday (TAST) challenge re-run came back by popular demand. The TAST facebook group is really very popular and at the time of writing there are over 2,400 members. That makes for a very active and fun stitch along! All are welcome
Next year
I plan to carry on working on this book and make the publishers deadline…
Take a stitch Tuesday will continue. I will recommence posting a new TAST stitch on January 12th. If you want to know more about the challenge you can see the guidelines on the TAST FAQ page.
As many of you have noticed I have been posting stitch tutorials as I am moving my stitch dictionary here. Just about every page needs updating and I am re-writing many bit by bit and this will continue. Also an index page listing all the stitches will appear soon. With this project it’s a chicken and egg situation I need the pages created on pintangle before I can create an index page of links to them. So that is happening steadily.
I will of course be writing about other things too
Anyway from wherever in world you are, my home to yours, my best wishes and stay safe this holiday season. I hope all your needles are easily threaded, your floss stays knot and tangle free.
Happy Holidays and see you next year!
