Jean Baggot talks about The Girl on the Wall

The Girl on the Wall, is an interesting piece of autobiographical embroidery. This sampler is the life story of Jean Baggot told via interlocking ‘circles of life’ which act a framework to illustrate each narrative.

This video interview explains how it came about and why the piece was made.

There is a second video that speaks a little more about the sampler and promotes her book.

Also there is the “Girl on the Wall” blog and website which is not to be missed as it covers how to work your own piece.

  1. This book was recommended to me by a friend whose late husband was once rector of Leek Wootton. I was born in West Bromwich in1946. Fantastic book . wonderful tapestry. I was educated at Spon Lane sec mod, left school with no qualifications I furthered my education in my forties with 0 levels and one A level. Had health problems including breast cancer . So did not go further unlike Jean…..Well Done you are an inspiration. I have become an accomplished needlewomen and crafter , I was always useless at school or so I was told. This is the best book I have read in a long time No one is going to borrow this copy, they will have to buy their own.
