This embroidered seam embellishment started as a row of buttonhole stitch worked in DMC pearl 8 thread.
At the base I worked a series of straight stitches worked in 2 strands of DMC floss. These were topped off with a Oyster stitch worked in the same floss. Between the oyster stitch and the straight stitch I used a small seed bead.
On the top side of the row of buttonhole I used a bugle bead. From both sides of the bead, I arranged 4 detached chain stitches and added another a fifth at the top. This was worked in one of my hand dyed threads which is approximately the same thickness as DMC pearl 12.

Linda although you used a buttonhole base, chain, and a variation of chain space, thread weight, and the direction of the top chain stitches in the ‘flower’ will make it appear very different – thats the fun part I guess there is alays something to tweek and bingo something new is created
I just tried this stitch combination – without beads and a few other changes. And it looks nothing like this one.
I wonder why???
