Sunbury Millennium Embroidery

Sudbury embroidery screen shot of siteLarge collaborative community textile projects are always exciting to discover. I love to see the way people represent themselves in thread.
Sunbury Millennium embroidery is an great example of what can be done. The project was conceived by David Brown and designed by John Stamp. Stitched by 140 people the panels illustrate village life, culture and history. Viewing these panels on screen you have no sense of their size but when you do look at them remember that the central panel is 9 feet long and the 8 smaller side panels are 2 feet wide.
