For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 27

Stitches: 

This band illustrates  a couching experiments with  buttonhole  stitch. Buttonhole is holding a ribbon in place.

Thread:

A hand dyed mercerised cotton, which is about the same weight as perle thread 8

Fabric:

This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the cotton thread

Disperse dyes (also known as transfer dyes) on the synthetic ribbon.

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

Date:

This section of the sampler is dated 1996 – Jan 1998

    I will try to give instructions but it will have to wait until the next time I do a dye run as here in Australia it is the start of the school year next week and life will get busy for me.
    That said if you do a search using a google about using procion dyes you will find plenty of information online. I don’t do anything fancy – in fact I very slap dash
