This band was made by working threaded running stitch in different threads.
Thread:
The foundation rows of running stitch were worked in hand dyed cotton threads that had the same thickness as perle #8 thread. I then threaded the rows with different threads. Working from the top down:
3 lines of A hand dyed soft Danish cotton which feels and works up in a similar way to coton a broder and is matt with no sheen. It is approximately the same thickness and weight as perle 8
2 lines of hand dyed cotton (crochet thread)
3 lines of hand dyed cotton
3 lines of textured boucle cotton/rayon mix
1 line hand dyed mulberry silk
3 lines of hand dyed cotton
1 line of textured boucle wool
3 lines of high sheen silk
2 lines of hand dyed rayon ribbon floss
All embroidery threads are hand dyed by me.
Fabric:
This section of my sampler is worked on 26 count linen which has been hand painted with procion cold water dyes.
Dyes:
Procion cold water dyes were used for both thread and foundation fabric
