crazy quilt detail of lace

This is a detail of a seam on block 57 of the I dropped the button box quilt. This seam is first covered with lace then decorated with detached buttonhole scallops worked using hand dyed silk thread. I then added seed beads, french knots worked in cotton and quarter buttonhole wheels.

  1. what is a detached button hole scallop?
I see the stitch above that you are referring to, but it is not in your Stitch Dictionary.
    How do you make it?

    1. Kathy I will add the stitch to the list that I have to put online – its not easily explained without a full tutorial- basically its a bar of two or three stitches that you then buttonhole over – without going through the fabric
