Today I would like share another hand embroidered detail on section 50 on my Love of Stitching Band Sampler.
Fabric:
As I explained when I introduced readers to this section of the sampler I pieced together all sorts of scraps that had left over from other projects. I felt I was not wasting anything by using them for stitch experiments. On the overall sampler I used 25 cnt linen, Aida, hardanger fabric, table cloth linen and tea towel linen which had been hand dyed using procion dyes. This area is worked on some linen picked up in and secondhand charity shop. I think they were place mats that were stained. After dying them which did not remove the stain I cut off the stains and added them to my patchwork foundation fabric.
Stitches Used
This is me experimenting with cloud filling stitch. Instead of straight stitches I used detached chain stitches and laced it with a metallic braid and of course the pattern is turned on its side.
Date:
This section of the sampler was worked between March and May 2010.
Size:
This area is a section in my Love of Stitching Band Sampler which is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and currently measures 96 feet 5 inches (2,938.78 centimetres), or 32.138 yards which is 29.3878 meters. It is still growing…
