The detail below is an area on section 50 on my Love of Stitching Band Sampler.
Fabric:
The foundation fabric is some recycled linen that I found in a charity shop. Originally the line was a set of placemats that had stains on them. I dyed the linen but it was still stained so I cut away the stains and used the fabric in this experimental piece.
This is an instance of a what I call a little journal or autobiographical piece as it reads “The little red car goes to Melbourne on the 4th of March, then filled with circus humans we went to the Port Fairy Festival” I used hand dyed silk to work back stitch for the text
The Little red car is what we call our red Citroen, the circus humans were my daughter and a friend who were performing at the Festival. Melbourne is about a 8-12 hour drive from Canberra so it was quite a trip!
