For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 308

Stitches

This motif is made up of buttonhole wheels. The flowers are worked with a seed bead added to the middle and the greenery are made of half and part buttonhole wheels.

The butterfly is made of by working the wings in double cast on stitch, the body in bullion stitch and the head is a seed bead.

Thread 

A hand dyed cotton thread about the same weight as perle 8

Fabric:

Dress or tea towel Linen

Procion dyes used on the thread

This section of the sampler was worked during 2007.

Size:

The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide. It consists of different strips of fabric which are are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 24.8 yards or 22.75 metres long and I have more bands to add.

  1. This is such a cute way of using the buttonhole stitch. I would like to replicate the butterfly in my own work one day, but would have to put in some serious practise on the cast on stitch.
