The Allliance for American quilts has announced a contest for quilters that honors the spirit of the crazy quilt.
If you are not in the USA don’t turn off because this is one of the few American quilting organisations that accepts international competitors.
The quilts must be 16 inches square and celebrate some aspect of the crazy quilt style. Due date is June 1 2009. There are two categories: Ages 30 & Under, and Over 30. There will be prizes in both age groups for the first, second and third place winners.
The rules and entry form can be downloaded at the website.
The crazy quilts will tour to several exhibition venues, including the National Quilting Association’s annual show in June. The quilts become the AAQ’s property as they are auctioned off to benefit the Alliance. If you want to know more about this non-profit check out their mission statement.

And yes I am going to enter…
Hi Shirley I think you would have to contact them for a clarification
That contest looks interesting Sharon, but I wonder what exactly is meant by 3 layers? Is that three layers of decoration, or does it include the backing/wadding etc? I would be grateful if you could help me on that 🙂
I love your site, I have been *lurking* for some time!
WooHoo! Go get ’em Sharon… I may enter, too, it would be a nice break from the Midsummer CQ. It’s nice to see the international community invited, isn’t it? ;0)
