Stitches on this part of the sampler are:
I had been experimenting with laid stitches and I got interested in grids in general. So with this section I used basic couching to lay down a grid and held it in place with small cross stitches. In the squares of the grid I used detached chain stitch and bugle beads.
It is a simple pattern. The back ground fabric is tea towel linen and not an even weave fabric but I have since worked this on an even weave and it came up nicer as its neater. Sampler however are supposed to be a space where you can learn and experiment so I not too worried about being a perfectionist as some habits of thought can kill creativity.

The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and consists of different strips of fabric which are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 96 feet 5 inches (2,938.78 centimetres), or 32.138 yards which is 29.3878 meters. It is still growing…

I love this combination of threads and beads! What type of beads are they? I used bugle beads once on a garment and they kept cutting the threads and falling off. Frustrating!
thank you for saying that about the perfectionism – i so want to get my work neat and looking perfect like yours does but sometimes i have to say to my self – it’s ok, i’m just learning and trying things out. overall it’s good that i’m working at being neat, but not if it stops me trying. and of course as i’ve said to myself any number of times when trying out the tast stitches on the ordinary material – geometric stitches will always look more geometric if they’re on geometric fabric ! xx
Your stitches are so neat and even. Actually this section of the sampler reminds me of Chicken Scratch. The dyed fabric adds interest.
