YO means Yarn Over — ie pass the yarn over the hook (wherever the hook might be at that point) so that it goes round the hook clockwise (when viewed from the hook end). This creates an extra loop on the hook.
What does the term yo mean? I don’t recall seeing that before or else it’s been a long time since I’ve done a crochet pattern that has that stitch in it.
