Detail:
The edge of this seam is embellished with some hand dyed vintage lace which was first covered with ribbon. The ribbon was couched down using stepped threaded running stitch. This is a very effective way to edge some lace particularly if it is old and is a bit tatty.
Thread:
All hand dyed cotton thread used in the running stitch was dyed by me and the blue thread is a fine metallic braid like thread.
Dyes:
Procion dyes was used to dye the lace and cotton thread
Placement on block:
This seam runs along the edge of piece 6 that is in the top left hand corner of block 28
