For the love of Stitching sampler band 536

free form stitching sampleThis area is part of section 36 on of the For Love of Stitching band sampler.  This area is an experiment in freeform stitching using eyelet stitches, and its variations combined with thread wrapped beads, beading and French knots.

Thread:

The threads are mixed as in this section you will see cotton, wool, perle #8 and perle #5 cotton and hand dyed silk.

Hand dyed cotton

Date:

This section of the sampler was worked early 2009.

Size:

The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide. It consists of different strips of fabric which are are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 24.8 yards or 22.75 metres long and I have more bands to add.

  1. Marie I always plan a design like this and teach this type of stitching in my sumptuous surfaces class which will run again soon. I cant answer you as it would take a long answer about design which is also taught in the class. I am not being coy or difficult but I also think that if I did give you a full explanation it would not be fair for those who have already paid for the class!
    But I can say yes I do design a piece like this.
