I was poking around the net looking for book binding eye candy and inspiration because I am making some hand made books as gifts I realised I had missed the last issue of Bonefolder (vol 5 no1) . This journal is way above the normal standard or a free ezine and since this issue is up to its normal standards do take a look..
In this issue there is the usual amount of book binding inspiration. Of particular interest to fiber folks is An Overview of Fibers, Yarns, and Textiles for the Book Artist, by Amanda Thompson, and Anna Embree. This article delves into the structure of various fibres, examining them at microscopic level. Yarns of low and high twist and how this effects strength, Z and S twist and all sorts of interesting technicalities are well covered, yet the article is easily read.
In case you have not encountered this ezine before Bonefolder describes itself as a peer-reviewed, open-access journal on bookbinding and the book arts. The journal is free but delivered in PDF format which means you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. You can download a free reader on the Acrobat site.
Anyway do check out Bonefolder is is really worthwhile.

I’ve been lurking here ungratefully for too long (did you know I was there all the time?!), so it’s high time I said thank you for your kindness in providing so much wonderful advice and information. Just amazed at where you find the time to do this and the day job too!
See you tomorrow!
Christine.
