For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 128

This band of is created by working a line of  herringbone stitch and tying it with detached chain

Thread:

Perle thread #8 for the herringbone and a  hand dyed mercerised cotton for the detached chain stitch.

Fabric:

This section of my sampler is worked on cream dress linen

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes for the cotton thread

Size:

The sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and each section is stitched together in one long band to create a band sampler sampler which is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

Date:

I started this section of the sampler in 2004 and completed it early  2005.

  1. Thank you so very much for the tutorial of finishing the back of your CQ. I am in the process of finishing one that I have been working on , and off, for about 12 years! Life has interrupted many times!
My borders are going to be “dripping” with antique lace and crocheted vintage pieces so I don’t plan to bind the edge, but rather hand finish the edge to the false back.I will try to send you a pix of it when it is finished…hoping by March, 2016, to have it in the Dallas quilt show.there are pictures on silk of 7 generations of women in my family and many found objects from their lives!
