I have a bit of a work in progress report. I have not pieced my hussif (as getting out he sewing machine at the moment is a bit difficult) but stitch addict that I am, I could not live without having something on the go. I did pull out 25 count light walnut coloured linen and then I thought about the seaside. Next I remembered the flotsam on the seashore and before I knew it I had this design worked out.
I have started the heavily textured stitches in the area near the flip flops. This type of stitchery will run diagonally under them and diagonally under the shells too. Other areas will have pulled thread embroidery. I have yet to decide what I am doing with the border. It will be a small wall panel or I will simply add it to my sampler I am not sure yet. I set the tape measure against it so readers have a sense of the scale. So almost by accident I have started an other project!
If you click on the panel you will see a larger version of it.

Hi Sharon! This week has been a lesson on the reasons one should not rush! In my haste, I forgot to link up with my post on Wednesday. I hurried to fix that this morning. I thought I was leaving a comment here, but must have clicked on the photo of your lovely seascape piece and accidentally left my message there (feel free to delete that one!)
I managed some progress on my cross-stitch this week. http://monkeyandmutt.blogspot.com/2014/11/wip-wednesday-11122014.html
Dont worry Renee – its not a problem and the comment you left was very complimentary so I was not at fussed.
Your work is scrumptious, Sharon.
I had a long weekend and got a few things done

Enjoy something beautiful, I’m sure it’s good for
your hormones!!
Thanks Janie – not sure about hormones but is good for the blood pressure!
Gorgeous work Sharon! You can see my progress at http://princessbubblescreates.blogspot.ca/

Sharon, I’m reminded of another work of yours with a seahorse and shells–a splendid piece, as this one will be.
Don’t know if the comment on your lovely embroidery got lost, but you have really captured the holiday feel with this, Sharon! It is great!
Barbara

What a super piece. I especially like the flip-flops (slip-slops). The colours that you have used so far give a real sense of tranquility and the soft murmuring of the small waves on the beach. The dark patches of stones and the flotsam just add that extra ‘zing’.
Thanks Juno – that was a nice comment to read for me first thing in the morning
Hi Sharon,
Your panel looks fantastic and inspiring too. the textured stitches are beautiful, looking forward to the pulled thread embroidery stitches.

Thank you,

I hit the comment button too quickly,
I meant to say Sharon, that your panel is already looking so interesting and will be something I look forward to seeing develop.
I had cut my finger which stopped me stitching for over a week. It’s almost back to normal, so I have blogged my small progress on the hussif at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/crazyqstitcher/
Oh Maureen I hope it heals quick – for a stitcher to have a cut finger certain slows things down!
This is wonderful! I am sure you have been having as much fun with this beach piece as I did when I was on your SSE course. You have certainly crammed the stitches in!
I’ve been cramming things in, too:

Interesting beach scene!
I’ve worked on my blackwork alphabet this week. http://hokkaidokudasai.blogspot.jp/2014/11/work-in-progress-wednesday-2-t-p.html?m=0
Thanks!
Gosh! That’s quite a piece! Looking forward to seeing it as it develops more.
I’ve done absolutely zero this last week as I’ve spent most of it in bed. Today I started another baby knit (and decided to start knitting for the Premature Baby Unit next so I can learn more and enjoy the process without needing a friend to have a baby or to make garments in ever increasing sizes!!!), but I’ll post about that on Sunday.
Thanks Elizabeth – I am enjoying the piece
You have been very busy! Love your “flotsam.” I just finished writing my blog post for Wednesday and even though it won’t be Wednesday here in the central US for more than 9 hours, I decided to go ahead and post it.
