Today I have 2 seam embellishment ideas to share. Both are a detail on block 72 of the I Dropped the Button Box Crazy Quilt. If you click on the thumbnail you will be taken to information about the block itself.
The first is a is a stitch many crazy quilt embroiderers just love as it seems to flow over an area or a long a seam and is stitched very quickly. This is feather stitch and I have worked it using cotton perle #5 thread. I then topped them with small gold bead.
The next seam treatment looks better in life as it is securing a metallic silver ribbon against a metallic weave fabric. It is hard to photograph as the light bounces off it. Anyway I used up and down buttonhole to secure the ribbon and the thread I used is a hand dyed silk about the same weight as cotton perle #5.
This is part of a regular series which illustrates the hand embroidered seams, embellishments and decorations on my crazy quilt I dropped the button box.
