Hexagon Quilt block 26

Hexagon Quilt block 26Yes I have started to call my 2020 blocks my Hexagon blocks. No matter the name above is the next in the series. If you click on the photo you will see a larger version. As regular readers know I proposed a 2020 challenge. The idea was to use 2,020 different items on a quilt to be completed  by the end of the year 2020. Many people did produce a quilt  but I did not manage to make the deadline. Like many of us the year had other challenges in stall for us. I am continuing with the project but I think I will keep to making the quit with as many different items on it as possible. To find out more about the challenge, you will find the guidelines and list of resources here. To be honest, I am still enjoying making my blocks even more, now that the deadline has gone whooshing by!

Tip! links lead to tutorials on how to work the stitches.

Piece 1 and 2 on the pattern is covered with some wide vintage lace. I used a metallic thread on Whipped Running Stitch to pick out the V like pattern on the lace then added the green buttons. There is also Running stitch used on the hills that are between the V patterns. Half Buttonhole Wheels worked in hand dyed crochet thread echo the shape of the hills. I added a small green bicone bead to the centre of each wheel.

Hexagon Quilt block 26 detail 1Here you can see I have added a bow to the base of the seam covered with hand dyed braid. The cotton I used for the half buttonhole wheels was also in the same dye bath with the silk thread that I used to work Reversed Buttonholed Bar around the green disk like beads you can see in the photograph.
