I have managed to complete block 31 for my lace quilt. As I mentioned in my last Work in progress report I had been faffing about trying to find the right thing for it. For all that, I am quite happy with how it turned out.
If you click on the photo you will see a larger version of it.
I know people like details so I this time around I thought I would share them with you. The whole block is in dusty pink tones.
The lace on it is vintage lace I was given “towards my next quilt” and I wrote about it here.
This is a spray made of up and down feather stitch and woven detached chain stitch. I added bugle beads in between the forks of the feather stitches.
The hand dyed lace was further emphasised with French knots, seed beads and novelty beads in the shape of butterflies.
This last detail illustrates some of the vintage lace which emphasised with silk ribbon roses and then made bead tassels falling from vintage buttons.
You will find all the other blocks in this series the Lace Quilt category

Great effect from the variegated thread in the woven chain sts. – like newly-sprouted leaves. My husband leaned over my shoulder to look at that picture and said, “Looks like a bunch of bugs!”
Sharon your block is stunning! You are such an inspiration! My meager progress can be seen at

Gorgeous colours, Sharon.
I’ve started some blocks for a ‘Seasons’ themed crazy quilt but I already need to make some changes lol:

You never cease to amaze me with the beautiful things you create. The colors, the rich fabrics, beading and butterflies on this meld for one fabulous block.
Lovely work. Are the bead strands of the button tassels attached at the outer ends (furthest from the button)?
Hi Bev the bead strands I made (they are not purchased strands) they emerge from the holes in the buttons.
Another lovely block, thanks for adding the details. I like the spray with woven detached chain stitches and bugle beads.

Amazing detail! I have recently taken an interest in embroidery and love crazy quilts! I want to try my hand at it some day soon. How long does it take you, roughly, to make one square? Even though as an expert, I’m sure it would go much faster for you than a novice like me. 🙂 Your work is inspiring and really beautiful!
Lovely! I’m learning a lot just reading about your blocks. Thanks for sharing your work in this series.
Your block is beautiful!
It appears I don’t get anything done without your good influence. You were off-line for a week and I didn’t finish a block that week. Here is the newest champagne block

Lovely work with ‘delicious’ eye candy details.
Did you first select the buttons and then then colours of the tread? It is so beautifully co-ordinated.
My report is on the SSE embroidery, I hope that counts as a WIPW entry.

I found the buttons towards the end of the stitching process – I turned the workroom upside down for them as I could remember them but could not find them!
